Radna Rumping

Programmer, curator and initiator connecting art, music culture, heritage and media. Radna studied journalism, started her career at national public radio and broadened her scope as co-director of the Amsterdam Museum night (2008-2010),  collaborating with over 45 museums. Since 2011 she works mainly as a programmer/curator and advisor.

She’s experienced in working on extensive projects with major institutions, but has a keen eye for detail and a do-it-yourself mentality. Since 2011 she has developed numerous projects both as part of Non-fiction as individually. Whether it’s consulting the Rijksakademie van beeldende kunsten on public engagement, starting an international festival about online radio at Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ or curating public programmes at Oude Kerk – she approaches each project with a certain sensibility and fresh view to let new models appear.

Radna has been involved in several advisory committees, and is currently member of the Advisory Committee Visual Arts & Design at the City of Utrecht.

From April 2016-2017 she's following a residency at Van Eyck in Maastricht, a post-academic institute for artistic development,  funded by the Mondriaan Fund.

She still makes a weekly radio show, Future Vintage, live on Red Light Radio from Amsterdam every Tuesday, and is co-founder of Ja Ja Ja Nee Nee Nee, a new online radio platform dedicated to the arts.

Public programme on top of Amsterdam’s oldest building

Oude Kerk -platformThe Garden Which is the Nearest to God by Taturo Atzu (under construction)

From 26 June to 6 September, commissioned by the Oude Kerk, Japanese artist Taturo Atzu (formerly known as Tatzu Nishi) will be presenting a temporary platform on the roof of Amsterdam’s oldest building. He offers visitors a unique vista of the red light district while simultaneously giving access to an architectural domain normally hidden from public view. For ten weeks The Garden Which is the Nearest to God – a summery panorama terrace – transforms the roof of the Oude Kerk into an exhilarating attraction; its unorthodox function offering us new sights and insights. Troughout the summer Non-fiction will be curating a public programme, based on Atzu’s installation.

Documenting six years of underground culture

photo 3

Situated on the Wibautstraat in the east of Amsterdam, Trouw was a nightclub, music venue, cultural space and restaurant housed in the former newspaper printing facility of several national newspapers. Trouw combined food, music and the arts, and was the first nightclub to receive the 24-hour permit from the city of Amsterdam. After six years of experimenting and over time slowly establishing itself as one of the top nightlife and cultural venues in the city and beyond, Trouw closed its doors on 3 January 2015.
